Samsung recently launched its Galaxy S24 flagship series. The Galaxy S23 Ultra had been nearly invincible for the competition to overcome in almost any way possible. Samsung has launched its S24 series with faster processes, brighter screens, and more powerful cameras, and a suite of AI features.

So, what makes the new S24 Series special? What are the most important factors that make it stand out in the market and what is likely to draw new customers to Samsung’s flagship offering apart from the established fans?

The Korean tech giant launched its latest flagship series at prices starting from $799. The S24-Plus and Ultra have been priced at $999 and $1,299 respectively.

The key highlights of the new Galaxy Series are as follows:

Practical AI Features

AI is talk of the town. Samsung has taken things further with its new phones.

i. Circle to Search

Earlier you could run a search on a subject using Google Lens. With the latest AI infusion termed ‘Circle to Search’, you can now circle an item in a photo or video to learn more about it. Once an item is circled within a photo, Google search results relevant to it will appear to provide more information or buying options. This feature can be used within the photo app, Instagram, Facebook, or any other app. It is developed in conjunction with Google, so you should expect it on Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro as well.

Don’t bother if Bixby has nothing to do with these AI features. SamTime is kind of obsessed with Bixby, something which Samsung keeps forgetting about!

ii. An Effective Real-Time Translator

We eventually have a phone that can do effective and useful translation in real-time. Samsung calls its new AI as Galaxy AI. It can live-translate calls and texts in more than a dozen languages. The other user could be using any phone.

There are a few more AI features in the new Galaxy Series.

Enhanced Cameras

Samsung’s flagship offering has carved a niche for itself in the smartphone camera world. At one point it seemed like there was not much more that could be done in this department. Smartphone photography tech has had already been stretched or extended to limits that there seems any major or groundbreaking advances over it is nearly impossible.

Samsung still found some areas it could improve upon!

Some of the key points worth noticing in this department are as follows:

  • Both the S24 and S24-Plus feature the same rear camera setup as their S24 counterparts. They feature a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto (3x) camera. The 12MP selfie camera has been retained too.
  • The S24 Ultra has its camera setup tweaked a little bit. The 200MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto (3x) cameras on the rear and the 12MP selfie camera are still there. The 10x telephoto cam has been replaced with a 5x telephoto one having a higher 50MP resolution. The 5x zoom is more suited to everyday use while the higher-resolution sensor delivers excellent results for up to 10x digital zoom.
  • What the new Galaxy S24 Series does is take brighter and sharper photos and videos in Night Mode. A significant amount of credit goes to enhanced AI image processing.
  • There is better noise reduction on video recordings, as Samsung has upgraded a gyro sensor.

The AI penetration in photography and videography has become deeper. Previously, you could erase certain elements from your photos. The new AI features allow you to both erase and move elements. Now, you can also improve crooked images.

New Titanium Frame

Yes, it is all over YouTube and all the review posts! Apple did it first! SamTime The S24 Ultra now comes with a new titanium frame. According to Samsung, the new frame offers greater durability and resistance to scratch.

The S24 and S24-Plus look very much the same as their predecessors. With the Ultra, the old mildly rounded edges have been replaced with flatter ones. Then, there is a Corning Gorilla Glass Armor, which according to the company is the strongest to date.

The Ultra continues to carry the S Pen.

Both S24 and S24-Plus feature the same aluminum frames. The bezels in all the models are, however, slimmer. The available colors include black, yellow, silver, violet, blue, green, and orange.

Hardware & Batteries

All the models feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in the U.S., Canada, and China. While the S24 Ultra carries the same hardware elsewhere, the other models are powered by Exynos 2400 in other markets.

When it comes to memory and storage, all the models have 12GB offerings. The S24 is also available in 8GB versions. While the S24 is offered in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage versions, the S24-Plus has 256GB and 512GB and the S24 Ultra has 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions.

The S24 has a 4,000mAh, the S24-Plus has a 4,900mAh, and the S24 Ultra has a 5,000mAh Li-ion battery. According to Samsung, the S24-Plus can run almost 4 hours more video playback and the figure is 7 hours more for S24.

We will touch on the topic again with more details.
